Art Kiuttu, SVP, Lottery & Gaming Solutions, Lazlo 326 presented “Retail Disruption.”
Today’s lottery brick & mortar retailers are rapidly evolving as advancements in technology is driving disruption. Grocery store and convenience store retailers are seeking ways to improve the customer experience and reduce operating costs. Retailers are investing millions of dollars into mobile, digital technology, loyalty programs and other technologies to find a more effective way to create a one-on-one relationship with consumers.
Kiuttu examined how competition, home delivery, curb-side grocery pickup and clerk-less checkout will impact the lottery and how a digital mobile solution will help lotteries, retailers and consumers transition as this disruption occurs.
“Almost anything can be purchased on mobile, but unless your jurisdiction has iLottery, you cannot sell a ticket. This is how the Lazlo system works. The consumer simply hands the clerk the phone with the Lazlo app. The clerk scans the bar code. The bet goes through the game system and back to the customer’s phone. Lazlo converts the paper ticket to a mobile ticket. We can support any lottery draw game and iLottery. Lazlo also integrates with the retailers’ backoffice to provide a single scan transaction. We integrate into the Scan and Go technology. We integrate into the customer loyalty programs such as coupons through consumer goods companies,” ended Kiuttu.
