There’s been only one bidder to be the next private manager of the Illinois Lottery, and one lawmaker says that’s not good enough.
Despite the administration of Gov. Bruce Rauner terminating a Pat Quinn-era contract with private manager Northstar, the Illinois Lottery is still under Northstar’s management. That’s after reported problems such as revenue coming in below targeted goals and questions about transparency.
State Rep. David McSweeney, R-Barrington Hills, wants to get rid of Northstar quickly, but he said he worries about the outcome because only one company has responded to the state lottery’s request for proposal, or RFP.
