Maryland Lottery and Gaming Hires New Marketing Chief

(Baltimore) – Maryland Lottery and Gaming Director Gordon Medenica today announced the hiring of the agency’s new Managing Director and Chief Marketing Officer, John B. Gorman. The former marketing officer at the DC Lottery, Gorman will take over the role previously held by Leo Mamorsky, who left the agency to take a position at the New York Empire State Development.

“When Leo left, we knew we needed to find a seasoned professional with a strong background in marketing and product development,” Medenica said. “John’s broad scope of knowledge and in-depth understanding of the lottery business will allow him to step right in and hit the ground running.”

As the former marketing director of the DC Lottery, Gorman was responsible for developing, designing and directing the agency’s strategic marketing plans, product and promotion launches, overseeing advertising and marketing campaigns and directing all second-chance promotions and sponsorships. Prior to leading the DC Lottery’s marketing efforts, he was the agency’s key market research analyst. Gorman also has served as a financial analyst for KEA Capital.

“We’re certainly very excited to have John on board,” Medenica said. “His business acumen and analytical skills will be a tremendous asset as we continue developing new and exciting marketing programs, promotions and advertising treatments that resonate with our players.”

Gorman, who earned his MBA in finance and investments, is best known for developing innovative, industry-first instant games like DC-7s, You Decide 2016, Chuck Brown and Codebreaker. He will begin his new position at Maryland Lottery and Gaming in late June.
