Some Massachusetts state officials are renewing their push to allow the state lottery to begin selling online. The treasurer, Deborah Goldberg, has ardently insisted that the lottery be allowed to sell online, both to increase revenue flow to state coffers and to protect the current cash flow.
“We do not want to go the way of Sears or Toys R Us,” Goldberg said in January, referring to the lottery.
Legislators have been considering expanding gaming in the state by allowing sports betting. Goldberg believes that lottery selling online should be included in any expansion of gaming legislators decide to promote.
