Oregon Lottery wants to add virtual sports to their menu of available options to bet on. Virtual Sports are computer simulated sporting events with no human input at all. (This differs from “eSports” which are computer games that human plays against each other).
While the coronavirus has shut down sporting events at least until later in the summer, virtual sporting events would hopefully keep players entertained. The Oregon Lottery needs to change the current rules to be able to offer this game.
The proposed rule change is as follows:
- Uses motion graphics, sounds and play-by-play to simulate the overall experience of a real-world sporting event;
- Assigns random probabilities to each participant in the virtual sporting event;
- Uses a pseudo random number generator to determine winners; and
- Has been tested and certified by a reputable certification authority.
