Florida Lottery Breaks New Fiscal Record

The Florida Lottery announced that it has officially reached its sales goal of $7.26 billion for fiscal year 2019-20, surpassing last year’s sales by more than $112.7 million. According to Florida Lottery Chief of Staff Samantha Ferrin, “exciting new promotions and popular player-favorite games were the driving force behind this year’s sales success.”

Strong Scratch-Off sales of more than $5.5 billion helped account for the majority of the success this fiscal year, including 31 weeks where Scratch-Off sales were over $100 million. In March, ticket sales exceeded $149.8 million for the week ending March 1, setting a new industry record for the highest single-week Scratch-Off sales of any Lottery in the country! This record-breaking sales week surpassed the previous single-week Scratch-Off sales record, also held by Florida, of $126 million for the week ending March 3, 2019.

With higher sales, come higher prize payouts for Lottery winners, increased retailer commissions, and most importantly more funding to enhance education. Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has generated more than $37 billion for students and schools, including over $1.7 billion so far, this fiscal year. We are proud to be able to create millions of winners, partner with thousands of retailers statewide, many of whom are small business owners, and provide a reliable source of funding for Florida’s students and schools.

Over the past 32 years, the Florida Lottery has firmly established itself as a dependable funding source for public education, contributing more than $1 billion annually for each of the past 18 consecutive years. Our commitment to corporate outreach and our effective business model focuses on the development of additional revenue streams, creating a win-win partnership with retailers and vendors, while benefitting Florida’s overall economy.
