The Colorado Lottery christened its twice-week Buy/Get Lotto event as “Happy Hour.” The promotion is proving a great way to increase Powerball and Lotto sales during late summer as well as provide an event at lottery retailers.
“It’s Happy Hour every Tuesday and Friday at the Colorado Lottery. From Aug. 1 – Sept. 30, the Colorado Lottery is hosting a terminal Happy Hour event, where from 3-6 p.m. anyone who purchases $6 in Lotto+ receives a free Powerball ticket worth $2,” said Tom Seaver, Director, Colorado Lottery.
This is just one example of how the lottery is pivoting in a COVID-19 world. New ads will also be returning on the air. “The Colorado Lottery recently restarted production on product television ads for the first time since Colorado’s Stay at Home order in March,” said Seaver. “While sales dipped at the beginning of the pandemic shifts, sales increased sharply once players’ daily shopping habits normalized. The Colorado Lottery was focused on its proceeds message during the state’s shut down, transitioning TV ads to proceeds messages over products but marketing for products are back to normal. While our sales reps are back in the market visiting retailers, we have boosted our online and terminal contests and promotions to engage players who are staying home more regularly.”
