The Célébration lottery game has been a holiday tradition at Loto-Québec for over 30 years now. As always, this year’s edition offered loads of generous prizes, including cash prizes and big-ticket items like getaways and BMW i3 EVs, as well as a shot at becoming a millionaire on live TV. However, the Célébration event held on January 10 featured an innovative new format that was designed to minimize travel within the province. For the 2021 edition, the 43 finalists received tablets so they could take part in the event from the comfort of their homes and get the chance to become a millionaire during the live draw. The finalists who didn’t win the biggest prizes still won at least $25,000, so everyone walked away a winner!
But Célébration is more than just a draw, it’s also a variety show. “It was a challenge to put on a show that would offer so much to our winners and our many viewers as well. We had to rethink the format several times to adapt to current circumstances, while still providing an outstanding experience for the winners and primetime TV audience,” explains Janie Thériault, Director of Integrated Marketing Communications.
Two beloved Québec celebrities hosted the event, which was taped without a live audience in order to comply with public health measures. With the collaboration of the hundred-plus creative minds involved in putting on the high-profile event, Québec’s homegrown artists put on a stunning show!
