In 2022, CEO Pat McHugh guided the sale of Scientific Games Lottery to Brookfield Business Partners in order to position the company and its customers for accelerated modernization and growth and return the company to its 100% lottery roots. “This is a company that invests in businesses around the globe and could pick any industry and any company,” McHugh says, “and to know that they picked a Georgia-based company that’s doing this great work was a tremendous sense of pride for us.”
The transaction allows Scientific Games to focus its attention on providing games, services and technology to the global lottery and lottery-administered sports betting markets. The company continues to operate under the Scientific Games name, which was established in 1973, providing 130 lotteries in 50 countries around the world.
This year, Scientific Games received the prestigious Lottery Supplier of the Year Award from SBC Americas for its digital lottery leadership.
