La Fleur’s Magazine’s new series—Quote of the Week—features interviews with lottery directors about what’s ahead for their organizations in fiscal 2022. We will feature a different director each week. This week we are spotlighting John Davis, Secretary, Florida Lottery.
What’s ahead for your lottery in FY22?
“The Florida Lottery is already off to a great start to fiscal year 2021-22 – with sales currently pacing 2.6% ahead of this time last year. Our team continues to work tirelessly to ensure overall sales this fiscal year surpass the record-breaking $9.07 billion in sales we saw last fiscal year. To keep this momentum going, we’re focusing on several initiatives this fiscal year that we believe will allow us to surpass last year’s record sales.
Internally, we will be concentrating on our Path Forward blueprint in fiscal year 2021-22, mapping out our two, five, and 10-year plans for the future. These business objectives center around five key areas that will help to maximize revenues and increase efficiencies in every aspect of our operations and include: player experiences and expectations; vendor partnerships; internal initiatives; educational outreach throughout the state; and strategic alignment with sister state agencies.”

Where do you plan to vacation in the next six months?
“Florida has so many amazing vacation spots, it’s hard to choose just one; but my wife and I plan to take full advantage of the South Florida area (Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties) and the wonderful dining and shopping options offered there!”
