Canadian lotteries typically launch omni-channel games, which allow players to purchase retail instant tickets and eInstants each year.
“We are launching brick and click games as much as possible,” said Anne-Marie Voyer, Director of Products & Development at Loto-Québec. “MEGA 360 is an example; the game will be available online and at retail. The majority of our permanent games are available online as well.”
For example, Loto-Québec currently sells online Jeu de Mots, Mots Cachés, Gagnant a Vie, Roue de Fortune, 7 Chanceux, Code Secret Express and SCRABBLE. There is a seasonal Halloween version of Mots Cachés. There are also Multiplicateur Surprise games.
The lottery tags the tickets “play this game online” when it is an omni-channel game. “We are currently working on launching more games with a LQ brand; this is our differentiation strategy for the online portfolio. Those games perform extremely well,” said Voyer.
On Loto-Québec’s Jeu de Mots and Mots Cachés extended play tickets, there is the “Instant” tag at the bottom right, that indicates that this game is a brick and click game, available online—“Grattez Aussi Ce Jeu En Ligne!”
On PlayNow.com, BCLC offers a robust selection of eInstant games. “At least once a year, we offer an omni-channel Scratch & Win ticket where you can win free play credits for PlayNow.com or at our Casinos. We are planning our next one for January 2022, where a similar title will exist on PlayNow as well as our Casinos,” said Gladys Primeau, Category Manager, Instant Games, BCLC.
WCLC does not currently offer eInstants “but does offer anonymous play with its EPLAY game offering. EPLAY games combine a traditional lottery ticket with an EPLAY game play component. Players can play out a portion of the play of their lottery ticket on any electronic device (mobile, computer or tablet),” reported Don Coleman, Manager, Big Play Products, WCLC.
