La Fleur’s Magazine’s new series—Quote of the Week—features interviews with lottery directors about what’s ahead for their organizations in fiscal 2022. We will feature a different director each week. This week we are spotlighting Jeff Hewitt, President, Mississippi Lottery Corp.
What’s ahead for your lottery in FY22?
“As the newest Lottery, we are continuing to build our base game portfolio. We will be launching our Cash 4 daily game in early 2022. We have a tentative roadmap for future draw games and understand we may need to adjust our plans depending on any upcoming changes to either Mega Millions or Powerball. On the instant side, we believe we have charted a good course and will continue launching new products each month while constantly evaluating potential new game concepts.”
What book are you currently reading?
“I’m currently reading The Fourth Turning by William Strauss and Neil Howe. This book examines the historical cycles in the U.S. and how those cycles repeat nearly every 80 years (four generations). The analysis of these cycles is fascinating, and it looks at how each generation within each cycle influences each era. We are currently reaching the end of a turning and as I continue to read the book, I’m not sure if I’m terrified or optimistic about the future. I prefer optimistic!”
Where do you plan to vacation in the next six months?
“I’m in desperate need of beach trip! We enjoy our trips to Wrightsville Beach in North Carolina and I’m looking forward to a family trip to that area.”
