In 2021, the California Lottery is launching four holiday Scratchers®. They began rolling out on October 25, 2021. The slogan of the lottery’s 2021 holiday ad campaign is “Give the Gift of Scratchers.”
“Following success last year with California Lottery’s first scratch and sniff ticket ‘Peppermint Payout,’ the popular game returns at the $1 price point to offer a great idea for a stocking stuffer,” said Whitney Alderson, Assistant Deputy Director for Marketing, California Lottery.
The lottery predicts that the scented ticket will be the big hit for the holiday season. “The colorful ‘Peppermint Payout’ ticket caught players’ attention with its whimsical design and minty scratch and sniff scent during the 2020 holiday season, when gatherings and travel were limited by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This year, we’ve brought ‘Peppermint Payout’ back at the $1 price point and expect it to once again be a player favorite and popular gift option. Arriving in five color variations, our 2021 ‘Peppermint Payout’ game offers the perfect stocking stuffer or office gift idea for Californians as they celebrate the ability to gather with friends and family during the holidays again,” said Alderson.
In addition, California Lottery is marketing “Happy Holidays” which is its traditional holiday game at the $5 price point and also offers a gift tag element in the design and four colors. “At the $10 price point, we are introducing “Winter Bucks,” with a clean, modern image and play area design that can last beyond the holidays and into the winter season. Finally, “$5 Million Roaring 2022” is our $20 holiday offering, celebrating the New Year. This is our third year in a row offering a New Year ticket, and we’ve seen players continue to buy these tickets as late as May and June,” said Alderson.
