The Maryland Lottery & Gaming will participate in the final Midnight Madness event in historic Annapolis on December 16. This traditional holiday-themed event occurs on the first three Thursdays of December. The theme for the lottery’s holiday scratcher campaign is “Make It Merrier.”
According to the Maryland Lottery website, “this holiday tradition features storefronts blazing with holiday lights, trees, garland, snowflakes, and more. Stroll along Main Street, West Street, Maryland Avenue, State Circle, and Dock Street from 4 p.m. through midnight on Dec. 9 or 4-11 p.m. on Dec. 16. Shop, dine, and mingle! We’ll help you smile, no matter how cold the weather! Pick up some freebies and lots of facts about our holiday scratch-offs, second-chance contests, and more. Look for our booth (starting at 6 p.m.) beside that of our friends from WNAV!”
There are also two other holiday promotions. “We also participate in events to benefit Toys For Tots in coordination with our radio station partners and our vendor partner Scientific Games. Our Communications staff pairs the holiday-themed scratch-offs with holiday gift ideas and promotes the tickets during ‘Gift Guru’ segments that are broadcast on local TV newscasts,” said Leslie Mitchell, Instant Product Manager, Product Development, Maryland Lottery.
The lottery launched eight holiday tickets in 2021. There were five scratch-offs ($1 Holiday Cheer, $2 Cookies and Cash, $3 Peppermint Payout, $5 Holiday Riches, and $10 Gold) and three FAST PLAY games ($1 Snow Me The Money, $5 Jack Frost Jackpot, and $10 Holiday Money Match). “Two of the three FAST PLAY games are relaunches from last fiscal year — the $10 Holiday Money Match is a new game,” said Mitchell.
