It is the countdown week to Christmas. In case you didn’t get a chance to read Byron’s 10-page graphical essay on The Holiday Roundup in the Nov/Dec2021 edition of La Fleur’s Magazine, I am excerpting sections over the next four days. (Plus I am tired of writing!) In case you didn’t know it, there is Pecan Tassies to bake, whiskey balls to roll, dog chew toys to buy, and cat feather toys to wrap . . . lol!
The New Hampshire Lottery released a family of holiday themed “Frenzy” games at four different price points. Advertising will emphasize the holiday frenzy. Tickets will hit stores on November 1. “We expect each price point to perform at and even higher level than previous years. Each price point is loaded with its namesake prize and the look and feel is like a Dr. Seuss disco party of Christmas trees and Santa hats,” Kelley-Jaye Cleland, Chief Product & Program Officer said. The lottery has a variety of point-of-sale.

The Arizona Lottery is releasing a holiday pulse of the $20 ticket, 50x the Cash. The ticket will transition to normal artwork when the holiday themed version runs out. The lottery will also release a $2 holiday themed Fast Play ticket. All holiday tickets will be released October 5th. The lottery will also release a “This game was very successful for us in the past and we think the introduction of the holiday theme will only increase the sales,” Chris Rogers, Deputy Director, Products & Marketing, said. The lottery has had success in the past hosting holiday pop-up events at malls, but holiday activation plans are still in still in the air due to the pandemic.

The Nebraska Lottery will introduce three holiday tickets in 2021 and expects their top ticket to be “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.” Tickets launched on October 25th. The lottery’s advertising slogan is Sleigh Full of Joy. “Our “Twice as Nice” social media promotion runs from 11/23–12/1. There will be five winners of $100 in holiday Scratch tickets and they each get to select a friend to also receive the $100 in holiday Scratch tickets,” Brian Griesenbrock, Products Manager, said.

The Iowa Lottery continues their “Warehouse Dash” promotion, which was started in 2011 and has remained wildly popular. “Our players and retailers have continually asked for us to run this promotion again. We anticipate it will be very popular because all of our holiday tickets are eligible and it includes big cash AND a fun experiential prize,” Teri Wood, VP, Sales & Marketing, said. The Iowa Lottery will release 13 tickets between September 27 and November 1st.

Mifal Hapayis, the national lottery of Israel, has two holiday tickets, a limited-edition Hanukah ticket and a Happy Holidays ticket. “Since the Jewish calendar has all sorts of Holidays and events throughout the year, we always have a Happy Holidays (pictured below) ticket available,” Avi Levy, Instant Marketing Director & Lottery International Affairs, said.

Loto-Québec will release six games mid-October, including a new and improved $15 advent calendar ticket. “This new edition will feature six games in addition to the traditional ‘24 days to Christmas’ calendar doors game. More games, more fun, better value for the player, this ticket will sure please the crowd,” Anne-Marie Voyer, Director, Product Management & Development, said.

“We all know that holiday scratchers make a great hostess gift, but many people forget to give anything! This year’s slogan ‘Don’t arrive with empty mittens’ is inspired by this common behavior,” added Voyer.
