In his La Fleur’s Magazine interview about FY23 developments, Paul Erickson, President & CEO of Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC), described this year as “full of launches for WCLC.”
“We’re in year one after re-launching our sport product – Sport Select – and after launching the transactional version of our Lotto Spot App. These innovations have led to a much larger digital footprint than we’ve ever had before. As for games, we’re re-launching a national draw-based game, and our $100 Ultimate scratch ticket is already flying out of the merchandiser. Not to mention the two two nostalgic branded tickets that will made an appearance this year: Monopoly and Plinko,” said Erickson.
There will also be major retail developments. “We recently finished building our Retail Strategy along with our member provinces – addressing the ways we support the Retailers in our region. The strategy pillars focus on communication and training for retailers, advanced technology suited to their needs, and exciting new products to help drive traffic to their stores. This year, we’ll be completing the rollout of our new Interactive Play Tables and start researching and planning for a new terminal rollout,” said Erickson.
Players also benefited from a relaunch of the multi-jurisdictional Lotto 6/49 in September 2022. “After serving Canadians for 40 years, Lotto 6/49 was in dire need of a refresh. All regional lottery teams have been working on the re-launch for over three years, and we’re excited to premiere the new Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball Jackpot, which has a guaranteed winner on every draw and can grow bigger than the Lotto 6/49 jackpot ever has,” explained Erickson.
