Starting with the August 3 drawings, the base price of lottery games will generally increase to 500 Hungarian forints (~$1.60), with two exceptions, according to a statement from Szerencsejáték Zrt., Hungary’s lottery operator. At the same time, the amount of money available for prizes will also increase, by an average of 25%.
The two exceptions are Kenó and Luxor, whose base fees of 350 and 300 forints respectively will rise to 400 forints; Kenó changes after 3 August and Luxor after 8 August. The price increase does not affect Eurojackpot, whose price depends on the prevailing euro-forint exchange rate, nor Lutri, which already costs 500 forints. The previous price increase came three years ago, when the popular games doubled in price and prizes rose by an average of 17 percent.
