The Colorado Lottery announced July 1 that it is transitioning its player-health materials to the National Council on Problem Gambling’s 1-800-MY-RESET helpline. The Lottery said both 1-800-MY-RESET and 1-800-GAMBLER remain active and can connect callers with free, confidential support and treatment referrals. A July 10 trade report said promotion of 1-800-GAMBLER will be phased out as the Lottery updates its communications.
The update follows a national dispute over control of 1-800-GAMBLER between the NCPG and the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey, which owns the longstanding number. Colorado’s gambling-related state divisions are currently using different messaging: the Lottery is moving to 1-800-MY-RESET, while Colorado Division of Gaming materials continue to direct the public and gaming licensees to 1-800-GAMBLER. The Lottery says either number currently reaches support services.
