Italy’s Ministry of Economy and Finance has published new rules for delayed-draw national lotteries, including Lotteria Italia and any additional national lotteries approved by the ministry.
The May 20 decree was published in the Official Gazette on July 10 and takes effect July 25. It recognizes both paper and digital tickets. Digital tickets may be sold only through authorized remote gaming channels and must be linked to a registered gaming account. Paper tickets will continue to carry the same participation rights.
Lotteria Italia will continue to run annually, with its final drawing fixed for January 6 and tied to a national television broadcast. The ministry may also authorize additional national lotteries by December 15 each year when they are connected to major events or television programs.
Ticket prices may range from EUR 1 to EUR 100, and individual prizes may reach EUR 20 million. Prize claims must be submitted within 180 days after the Customs and Monopolies Agency publishes the official final-draw bulletin.
The rules also allow the agency to add related games, extra drawings, interactive promotions, and digital or television-based features. Drawings may use certified random-number generators or electronic drawing machines, with manual machines allowed only when necessary.
