SEATTLE, Washington – April 24, 2017 – OpenMarket, a global leader in mobile messaging, has announced today that the Virginia Lottery, an innovative lottery started in 1988, will use OpenMarket’s Mobile Engagement Platform (MEP) for sending SMS text messaging alerts to lottery players statewide. The Virginia Lottery will leverage OpenMarket’s robust SMS network to deliver external, automated, winning number alerts and promotional text messages to local lottery players.

Text alerts for winning numbers will be used for such popular games as Mega Millions, Powerball, Cash4Life, Bank a Million, and Daily Games (Pick 3, Pick 4, and Cash 5). The Virginia Lottery chose OpenMarket’s Mobile Engagement Platform for its instantaneous communication capabilities, proven reliability, and scalability to run multiple text messaging campaigns efficiently.

In addition, OpenMarket and the Virginia Lottery will both attend and speak at LaFleur’s DC Symposium May 8-11, 2017 in Washington, D.C. The symposium will be held at the Jack Morton Auditorium at George Washington University and will examine the role of content innovation for the $300 billion global lottery industry. Speakers will examine how lotteries can use technology to innovate with traditional products.
