The Kansas Lottery launched Alchemy3’s Collect & Win app for its Holiday Dash promotion for draw games.
All nine Kansas Lottery draw games (Powerball, Mega Millions, Hot Lotto, Super Kansas Cash, Lucky for Life, 2by2, Pick 3, Keno, and Kansas Hold ‘Em) are eligible to enter the holiday promotion if tickets are purchased between October 2 through December 4.
Each ticket has a QR code. Players that collect all six holiday symbols are automatically entered into the second chance drawing.
“We had an ongoing promo with A3 with a previous Collect & Win promotion called Grills Gone Wild this summer,” explained Stephen Ortiz, Marketing Director, Kansas Lottery. “Our strategy for the holiday promotion was to focus on our entire portfolio of draw games that are available to enter through Collect & Win. A3 came back to the table and said they had a partnership with Sears. We pitched the idea of doing a store dash with selected winners for a holiday promotion. A3 found a location in Topeka. We’ll do this store dash promotion in December.”
The lottery will stage four drawings between October 18 and November 29. There are five $500 Sears gift cards given away at each drawing. The final draw occurs on December 6. Three winners compete to win up to $15,000 grand prize for Sears shopping.
Kansas Lottery is also organizing a Holiday Bonus instant ticket promotion. “We worked with Milestone Entertainment to do an interactive game. We printed a web code on all our holiday scratch tickets. They can spin a prize wheel,” said Ortiz.
In January, the lottery will hold three second-chance drawings. The top prize is $10,000. “One of the unique things from the gaming business transfer into lottery is that it is about building entanglement programs,” said Ortiz, who previously worked in the casino gaming business. “You can use that same approach in lottery to keep them entangled with the holiday games and give them a second chance to win a prize. We staggered it out with three drawings. We actually put it after Christmas so when they receive the holiday scratchers as a gift, they still have the chance to play the second chance games. The idea is to introduce the lottery to new players as well as existing players.”
