In July, Russian lottery operator Stoloto launched a pilot for Instant Board Game. This concept mimics the game play of classic games like Monopoly and The Game of Life. Players simulate dice rolls by scratching off ten designated spots and moving forward a set number of spaces on a game board printed directly on the ticket. For example, a roll of three advances the player three spaces to the third scratchable panel, while a second roll of two brings them to the fifth. The order of rolls matters, and players are instructed not to scratch every panel, a mechanic that makes the experience slower but also more interactive.
The ticket retails for 1,000 rubles (approximately US$13), with a 70% payout and a top prize of 150 million rubles (approximately US$1.5 million). Total prize liability exceeds 2 billion rubles. To support the new format, Stoloto is running static video ads on in-store monitors and pushing social content targeted at players aged 25-35. Each ticket includes a QR code that links to an interactive video tutorial, which helps those unfamiliar with the structure.
Early results are strong. The pilot has already generated 38.1 million rubles in retail sales within its first two weeks. “The first sales results are encouraging, but we will also look at repeat‑purchase rates, digital engagement, and game‑completion metrics once the pilot concludes,” says Julia Kononova, Senior Product Manager at Stoloto. “Our 2026 strategy development is underway. Once we evaluate all results, we’ll decide whether to include the Instant Board Game in our instant product matrix on a regular basis.”
