Kentucky State Rep. Adam Koenig, a Republican, introduced House Bill 175 in February to legalize legal sports books, online poker and fantasy sports.
While the sports betting/online poker initiative in Kentucky didn’t move forward this year, it will probably be debated next year.
“I definitely think the subject will come up again next year giving members more time to study the concept and be better prepared to address in 2020,” said Tom Delacenserie, President, Kentucky Lottery Corp. (KLC)
With this legislation, KLC would be responsible for overseeing online poker. “The rest of the sports betting would be overseen by the Racing Commission and would only be available at specific racing locations,” he added.
