Sales of Wisconsin Lottery Scratch Games were up 29.1% in April 2020 compared to April 2019 ($52,627,006). This year, FY20 YTD prior to April, average monthly scratch sales were $38,309,660. April’s sales were 37% higher than that.
“With other entertainment venues closed, from movie theaters to casinos, the ability to purchase and safely play instant scratch off tickets provided that missing entertainment for our loyal and certainly new players,” said Wisconsin Lottery Director Cindy Polzin. “Lottery players could see scratch tickets as an entertainment option and a little break from the day that they can safely enjoy at home. Now it’s a question of how to keep those new players!
“With respect to the Safe at Home Order, the Wisconsin Lottery chose to discontinue all paid advertisements for its products and is navigating a world without sports and other events. We will strive to find other ways to connect with our players that maintains safety,” added Polzin.
