Take-A-Ticket: Dispensing Custom Solutions for Lottery Clients

Take-A-Ticket, the Albany, Oregon manufacturer of ticket dispensers and merchandising aids, specializes in custom solutions for lottery point of sale. The company, founded in 1985 by Cal Tigner, Sr., has forged a reputation of creativity backed by engineering prowess. Their innovations span a continent, and have delighted lotteries and retailers alike. Understanding that no two lotteries and no two corporate retailers are alike, Take-A-Ticket can fabricate just about anything.

For example, Take-A-Ticket has developed dispensing units for the California Lottery that allow the lottery to simply add games to the existing dispenser. “We also included customized logos using our new hi-def LogoJET printing technology and a removable front panel to allow retailers to easily change out game inserts,” said Seth Tigner, President of Take-A-Ticket.

For IGT Texas, Take-A-Ticket has developed a variety of retailer-friendly on-counter dispensers that allow the lottery to dispense 8-inch and 12-inch Super Tickets and still allow each of the bins to dispense standard 4-inch tickets.  This allowed the lottery to add the Super Tickets and increase game facings without increasing bins or increasing the size of the unit.

Circle K stores in Texas had a special need to display their Scratch games near the point of sale. “We developed a sturdy 24- and 36-game lit display, featuring a flexible installation kit, allowing IGT to install the units with a variety of different retail configurations,” said Tigner.

In Kentucky, Take-A-Ticket developed a universal magnetic brochure display that can mount on the right side or left side of the ticket vending machine.

The Florida Lottery wanted to increase the number of facings in their Publix Supermarkets but could not increase the size of the unit. “We were able to develop a 24-game in-counter dispenser to replace the existing 16 game dispenser using the same footprint,” said Tigner.

Take-A-Ticket’s fabrication capabilities give the company a distinct competitive advantage. This stems from the company’s ability to understand their customers’ needs, quickly prototype a concept and make modifications that exceed customer expectations. “We are getting a lot of traction with the specialty design displays and innovative dispensing options. We plan to display many of our new products at our booth at NASPL this year,” explained Tigner.
