Scientific Games: Holiday HD Games Launch in Pennsylvania

From videos, to movies, TV shows, music and photography, high definition—or “HD”—has amplified entertainment, changing the quality of the experience so much that it’s never been the same again. Now, HD is changing the holiday instant game experience in Pennsylvania with vibrant, high-definition images, numbers and winning symbols that put a modern spin on instant games at retail.

Just when you thought holiday games couldn’t get any better, HD Games™ are delivering the next generation of instant entertainment in Pennsylvania with a selection of memorable games from $1 to $20 from the new, patented product line from Scientific Games. Always innovative, the Pennsylvania Lottery was the first to launch HD Games for the 2018 holidays.

“After launching Keno and iLottery games just weeks prior to our holiday game planning this summer, we wanted to make sure that there was something very special about this year’s holiday instant games,” said Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko. “We wanted noticeable games that our retailers would be inspired to display in their stores during the holiday season.”

One glimpse at the Lottery’s six holiday HD Games and it’s clear that the product team and game designers at Scientific Games had a merry time creating the portfolio. It offers the ultimate in holiday instant fun with rich colors—and a technology-driven twist on whimsical, classic and sparkling images.

“The new holiday HD Games created for the Pennsylvania Lottery offer something for every player, gift giver and their recipients,” explained Bob Fisher, Instant Games Marketing Director for Scientific Games in Pennsylvania. “The high-definition manufacturing process gives a special edge to these key number match games with symbols as bonus or multipliers.”

Featuring funky reindeers with holiday-lit antlers, colorful four-scene $1 games include Comet Cash, Dasher Dollars, Blitzen Bucks, and Prancer Payout. Next up are a grinning Frosty the Doughman ($2), the nostalgic Sleigh Bells game ($3) offering 12 chances to win, and a chuckling Cash Kringle game ($5) featuring everyone’s favorite, red-suited holiday hero. The $10 game, Money Tree, glows with green boughs of holiday lights, but it’s Merry Millionaire ($20) that is the real HD show stopper.

“Merry Millionaire is even more than an HD Game, it has gold lettering and our special Sparkle™ option with gold foil embossed over the face of the ticket,” says Fisher, who shares that it’s fast becoming a favorite.

In spring 2017, the Pennsylvania Lottery was the first lottery in the industry to launch HD Games, with GOLD FISH® which performed very well. Soon after, the Lottery launched a JACKPOT PARTY™ game from the product line. Other U.S. lotteries, including Montana, Ohio and Washington, have also successfully offered HD Games.
