La Fleur’s Magazine features Australasian, Canada and European lotteries’ 2020 holiday scratchers in World Scan.
Stor Julekalender
Stor Julekalender is the biggest seller for Norsk Tipping at Christmas. “We have two calendars (50 NOK and 100 NOK) this year, but not a ‘gift tag’ scratch ticket this year,” said Lise Vold, Product Developer, Flax, Norsk Tipping. “In addition to the calendars, we sell a lot of MILLIONFLAX (core product with four launches a year and a bestselling product) with GOD JUL (Merry Christmas) on the front of the ticket, and the color is red/green.”
Aussie Bush Christmas
Lotterywest’s 2020 Christmas range is an “Aussie Bush Christmas family” theme. “Each of the four tickets showcases iconic Australian animals, even the quokka which is only found in Western Australia. This Christmas range of tickets is special to Lotterywest because it is uniquely Western Australian. We have seen significant growth in the A$10 price point this year and are expecting our A$10 Christmas ticket will also follow this pattern,” according to a Lotterywest spokesperson.
Instant Holiday Fun
Each year, Instant Scratch-Its release a limited-edition Christmas ticket range in Queensland, New South Wales, the ACT, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and the Northern Territory. The A$5 Merry Christmas ticket represents the first Australian transparent design of this ticket. There is also A$1 Christmas Gift and A$2 Christmas Wishes. The Lott Instant Scratch-Its Senior Marketing Manager Nada McNamara said the special festive tickets were expected to be as popular as a hot piece of Christmas pudding.
Classic Holiday
Loto-Québec understands its players will want a traditional cozy holiday. “For this 2020 Christmas collection, we decided to offer comfort to our players, bringing back the brands they love with a festive twist. Our players will be happy to scratch classic Bingo, Crosswords and 7 chanceux games, as well as new classics such as Advent Calendar which is a fun way to prepare for the holiday. The whole collection is wrapped up in a peaceful green color scheme. For the second year, we’ve launched a C$10 scratcher, Richesse des fêtes, that will potentially perform as well as last year! The advertising campaign in support of the Holiday scratchers include three TV / web video spots that showcase one specific scratcher or the complete collection. Each scratcher of the collection has a unique USP that will be used to create social media content throughout the Holiday season. For example, with Cadeau Surprise, we are supporting local business but it’s also a Christmas tree scratch & sniff. The 7 Chanceux is a scratcher that can be use as a gift tag,” said Anne-Marie Voyeur, Director, Products & Development, Loto-Québec.
Advent Calendar
Finland’s Veikkaus will produce a special Advent Calendar ticket for the 2020 edition. “Our traditional 10€ Advent Calendar celebrates its 25 years anniversary this year and looks glamorous with sparkle on the design. Because of the anniversary, we have added a 50,000 euros prize to it. Prize payout is 70% and every second ticket wins. There are 1 million printed tickets,” said Erja Holsti, Product Coordinator, Veikkaus Oy. “Like last year, we also have a 2€ Christmas ticket.”
Kiwi Christmas
Lotto NZ will sell three seasonal tickets. “Our NZ$1 Merry Christmas gift tag scratchie has eight top prizes of NZ$5,000, and this year the prize structure has been reworked to deliver over 65,000 more winners, offering a better winning experience to our players. We have also released two NZ$5 Christmas games; our NZ$5 Christmas Crossword which is an Instant Kiwi classic, and NZ$5 Merry Multiplier which is a scratch card version of the Instant Kiwi online game of the same name. We expect NZ$5 Merry Multipler to be our best seller, offering four fun game panels and the chance to multiply your prize, with four top prizes of NZ$100,000 on this game,” said Claire Gutzewitz, Head of Instant Tickets, Lotto NZ.
Advent Kalender
Austrian Lotteries will market holiday tickets from 3 Euro to 7 Euro. “Our designs cover all different demands of our customers from funny/comic X-mas tickets to very traditional, festive tickets. We also offer an ‘Advent Kalender’ Ticket this year. The price is 7 Euro. In Austria, the Advent Kalender is very popular. It has been on the market every year since 2000,” according to the Marketing Department.
