Worldpay Gaming presented a Gold Sponsor video address.
“Just when everyone was getting used to calling us Worldpay and not Vantiv, we announced in March that we are being acquired by FIS,” said Andrew Crowe, VP, Lottery Marketing Development at Worldpay Gaming. “Whereas WorldPay is the global leader on the merchant processing side, FIS is a leader for the financial institution, banking and card issuing side. FIS provides the platforms for some of the largest banks around the world. It should give us good synergy. I do think we will continue to call the merchant side Worldpay.”
He said “Worldpay has a few new additions to the cashless lottery club including Arizona with Scientific Games and Michigan with IGT which are now live with card acceptance on their vending machines. New Hampshire is live with their internet lottery platform.”
“With regards to the Wire Act, the good news as it relates to Worldpay Visa and MasterCard while it plays out in the courts, it is still business as usual. We anxiously await a ruling from the judge in the First Circuit Court. The Department of Justice has deferred their enforcement until June. We expect some kind of ruling by the end of May. That will set the stage going forward. There is some question as to the effect on lotteries. The Wire Act has never been used to prosecute any lottery, neither has it been applied to any lawful gaming operator, no safe harbor. Ultimately lotteries are in this with all gaming operators to fight this,” he said.
